Class of Drug:
PANBLEND 40 contains PANTOPRAZOLE 40m belongs to the class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors. These medications work by reducing the production of stomach acid.
Indications:
It is used to treat various conditions, including:
• Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
• Stomach ulcer
• Zollinger Ellison syndrome (overproduction of acid due to pancreatic tumor)
• Duodenal ulcer
• Gastric ulcer
• Crohn’s Disease-associated Ulcers
Mechanism of Action:
PANTOPRAZOLE reduces stomach acid by blocking the actions of an enzyme (H+/K+ ATPase or gastric proton pump). This enzyme, located in the cells of the stomach wall, is responsible for the release of gastric acid secretion, which can damage tissues in the food pipe, stomach, and duodenum.
Symptom Relief:
It helps prevent the release of stomach acid, providing relief from symptoms such as esophagitis, GERD, or heartburn.
Common Side Effects:
Common side effects may include headache, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, flatulence, dizziness, and joint pain. These side effects are usually temporary and may resolve over time. Persistent side effects should be reported to the doctor.
Safety Considerations:
PANBLEND is generally considered safe for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, but it should be taken only after consulting a doctor. Inform your doctor about stomach or intestinal cancer, liver problems, allergies to PANTOPRAZOLE, or plans for future endoscopy.
Prolonged Use Considerations:
Long-term use of PANTOPRAZOLE may lead to deficiencies in Vitamin B12, as well as lower levels of calcium, magnesium, and Vitamin D, potentially contributing to osteoporosis.
Uses of PANTOPRAZOLE
Hyperacidity:
PANBLEND 40 is effective in reducing and controlling the excessive production of stomach acid, providing relief from symptoms associated with hyperacidity.
Heartburn:
PANBLEND 40 is used to alleviate heartburn, a burning sensation or discomfort in the chest caused by the reflux of stomach acid into the esophagus.
Peptic Ulcer:
PANBLEND 40 is utilized in the treatment of peptic ulcers, which are sores that develop on the inner lining of the stomach or the upper part of the small intestine. It helps in healing and preventing the recurrence of ulcers.
Directions for Use
Swallow it whole with water. Do not crush, break, or chew the tablet/capsule.
General Administration Note:
PANBLEND 40 should be given 30 minutes before meals.
